AFSCME Wisconsin Scholarships

AFSCME Wisconsin Council 32 is honored to announce its 2020 scholarship program! Council 32 is devoted to improving educational accessibility for hardworking AFSCME families. This year, Council 32 is offering two scholarships for dependents of current members and one scholarship for a current member. The scholarships may be used for any field of study.

The scholarships offered are:

$3,500.00 Jim Boyd Memorial Scholarship to a high school senior or a continuing student who is presently pursuing an Associate, Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree on a full-time basis (dependent of a current member)

$3,500.00 Dode Lowe Memorial Scholarship to a high school senior or a continuing student who is presently pursuing an Associate, Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree on a full-time basis (dependent of a current member)

$3,500.00 Tom Thorton Members Only Memorial Scholarship to a current member of Council 32

Thank you to all who applied! The AFSCME Wisconsin Executive Board scholarship committee is proud to annouce the winners of the 2019 AFSCME Council 32 scholarships! 

The 2020 winner of the Jim Boyd Memorial Scholarship is Genna Rynders. Genna is heading off to Kent State University to pursue a degree in Finance and Managerial Marketing, coupled with a minor in International Business. Throughout her high school experience, Genna was the drum major for her 300-participant high school marching band, and served in leadership positions for the French and Science clubs. 

The 2020 winner of the Dode Lowe Memorial Scholarship is Gabrielle Wilhorn. Gabrielle is a graduating senior intent on pursing her nursing degree at University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh. Gabrielle is currently serving as a CNA at a nursing home and plans to use her nursing degree in Acute Care.

2019 winners of the AFSCME Council 32 scholarships are: Kiana Jenswold (Jim Boyd Memorial Scholarship), James Alvin (Dode Lowe Memorial Scholarship), and Jaimie Basina (Tom Thornton Memorial Scholarship).
