Sad News - The Passing Of Phil Neuenfeldt

Sisters and Brothers,

It is with a profound sense of loss that we share the news of Phil Neuenfeldt's passing. Phil was a dear friend of AFSCME and was a beacon of light in the darkest of times.

Note from Stephanie Bloomingdale - AFL-CIO President:

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of one of the truly great leaders of our labor movement. Phil Neuenfeldt died in his home yesterday.

As you know, Phil embodied the vision and values of organized labor.

As we take time to mourn Phil’s passing, he would certainly want and expect us to carry on the fight to which he dedicated his life. I was with his family yesterday, and details about the formal celebrations of his life will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, each of us can best honor his memory by picking up the torch he carried so proudly. This includes doing our part in the final hours before the election to bring about economic justice for working people in Wisconsin. I will be saying so in an email to our general list shortly.

Phil would no doubt agree with Mother Jones, who advised, “Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.”

Rest in Peace, Phil.
In Solidarity,
Stephanie Bloomingdale
